With the crafts of leatherworking and sewing passed down through five generations of the designer's family, it's no surprise that each item is made using traditional hand tools, some of which have also been passed down from generation to generation. Sustainability is central to the creative process, the choice of materials, the design aesthetic and even the packaging. These pieces of art are created to last, so you can pass them on to future generations.

Created through the sculptural construction of several layers of leather, the result is an intricate shell-like shape, linked with luxurious gold-domed fittings. A double gusset on the sides allows easy access to the bag's interior, while a single strap and a snug closure at the top will keep your belongings secure.

The Shell Bag is lined with a soft lambskin leather interior and offers ample space for all your evening essentials. A polished brass ring serves as the bag's handle and is the perfect size to slip over the arm, leaving your hands free to hold your cocktail glass, greet your guests, light a cigarette, etc. Vegetable-tanned cowhide leather, gold-coated solid brass fittings and brass screws on the back make this a true piece of art.

Composition: Everything is made entirely by hand by designer Úna Burke in her Irish atelier, from full-grain British and Italian vegetable-tanned cowhide and gold-plated solid brass. Vegetable tanning is a method of leather production that is more respectful of the earth, and it is for this reason, among others, that the brand has been awarded the Positive Luxury Butterfly Trust Mark  "When a brand passes our evaluation process, it receives the Butterfly Mark, which visibly authenticates luxury brands that contribute to a better world."

Maintenance instructions : Do not overexpose to sunlight and avoid contact with moisture, especially water, creams, foods, oils and perfumes. As this item is made from a natural material, color and surface variations are unique characteristics and not a defect. It is to be expected that the texture and tone of leather will change with age and use.

About the designer Una Burke

Úna founded her eponymous brand in 2010 in London, creating both seasonal fashion collections (harnesses, bags, skirts, bracelets...) and sculptural works of art using her traditional leatherworking techniques in her distinctively intricate constructions.

Since 2020, she has worked from her native Ireland. Fashion collections have continued to be concept-based, with human stories at their heart. Influence comes from psychological, military and medical sources as a physical reference to the warrior spirit within us all. The artworks are figurative in form and come from this same source of inspiration. They are developed on commission for private art collections, public exhibitions and museum archives. Úna's work has been exhibited in over twenty countries worldwide, and her clients and collectors include New York designer Phillip Lim , the Simone Handbag Museum in Seoul , the National Museum of Ireland and Nick Knights' creative laboratory "SHOWstudio".

While studying for her Masters in Fashion Artefact at Cordwainers, London College of Fashion, she produced her iconic "Wearable Art" collection, RE.TREAT and won the Design Award for Best Static Collection.

Úna's work has been exhibited in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the United States, and appears regularly in publications such as Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Collezioni and Numero.
